Contrinex Sensors - Inductive & Photoelectric Sensors

Contrinex Industrial ElectronicsContrinex Ltd is a leading manufacturer of inductive and photoelectric sensors. Contrinex specialises in the production of miniature devices, long operating distances and devices in all-metal houses.

The main focus and business area of Contrinex is in their development and manufacturer of sensing equipment.

The Contrinex product range includes a selection of the smallest inductive proximity sensors in the world, which have an operating sensing distance range of four times that of traditional sensors. Known for being robust and highly reliable, Contrinex sensors are widely used in numerous industrial environments.

Many Contrinex sensors have all metal housing and are rated IP67 to withstand the most severing operating conditions of pressure, temperature and environment. Due to the size and flexibility of operation, Contrinex sensors are ideal for packaging industry, handling systems and process control.

For applications dealing with the food, beverage and marine industries, Contrinex also provide IP69 sealed rated versions of their sensors.

Contrinex Sensors specialise in:

  • Miniature devices
  • Long operating distances
  • Resistance to extreme environmental conditions
  • Devices in all-metal housings

Inductive Proximity Sensors

Contrinex Inductive Proximity SensorThe 620 series Contrinex inductive proximity sensor correspond to those of the 300, 400, 420 and 600 series sensors. The benefits of Contrinex inductive sensors are their safe operation, due to increased distance from moving parts and easy installation and setup. Contrinex ultra miniature sensors have increased operating distances with stainless IP67 rated steel housing and have a low risk of breakage. In addition, to standard sensors, Contrinex provide long range sensors with a sensing distance of 12mm, 22mm and 40mm.

For a small rise in price the operating sensing distance can be greatly increased.

  • Sensors with long operating distances
  • Standard Devices
  • All metal devices
  • Cuboid devices
  • M30 and cuboid devices

Contrinex Photoelectric Proximity Sensors

Contrinex Photoelectric Proximity SensorContrinex Series 1000 photoelectric proximity sensors are available in a variety of sizes and functions. Sensors are available in the following sizes: 4mm, M5, 6.5mm, M8, M12 and M18. The 4mm and M5 are now one of the smallest self contained photoelectric proximity sensors on the market with a cylindrical light beam and well defined operating range. The Contrinex 1000 Series replace larger traditional models of photoelectric sensors in case of space problems and optical fibre.

Photoelectric proximity sensors whether they are diffuse, retro reflective, color sensor or through beam incorporate a light emitter and a receiver. In all of the sensor types except the through beam sensor types, the emitter and receiver are housed in a single sensor unit. The Contrinex photoelectric proximity sensors feature cables, connector S12, connector S8 or screw terminal connections with a standard operating rating of 10-50,000.

Common Applications for Photoelectric Proximity Sensors include:

  • Counting and monitoring over longer distances
  • Bottling and canning plants
  • Food making
  • Sorting by height detection
  • Controlling doors, gates and corridors
  • Counting, checking and sorting of small objects
  • Controlling and monitoring assembly operations

Contrinex Ultrasonic Proximity Sensors

Contrinex Ultrasonic Proximity SensorContrinex ultrasonic proximity sensors are used as a contact free sensor in numerous areas of automation. Ultrasonic sensors are commonly used to measure distances in air, as they not only detect objects, but also evaluate the absolute distance between themselves and the target. When an object enters the preset sensing area, the echo it causes as it passes through causes the sensor to activate and the device to switch.

Contrinex manufacturer five distinct models of ultrasonic sensors with diverse operating functions. The ultrasonic sensor range start with diffuse and reflex sensors of a housing size of 40mm x 40mm with a sensing range of 0 to 200mm.

The next level up is the M18 size diffuse sensor with a sensing range of 0 - 700 mm and the M18C size with a sensing range of 100 - 700mm. In the next size up, the M18W is a reflex sensor which provides a sensing range of 150 - 1,000mm and in the size of the M30 is a through beam sensor for sensing items within a range of 200 to 1,300mm.

Contrinex Capacitive Sensors

Contrinex Capacitive Proximity SensorContrinex capacitive proximity sensors are commonly used in machines, installations for monitoring the levels of liquids, pastes and bulk material.

Contrinex capacitive proximity sensors are suitable as limit switches, contact free position switches, monitoring and positioning, pulse generators and counting purposes and distance and speed measurement.

Resistant to dirt and shock, IP67-rated switches monitor levels of liquids and bulk material in machines, installation and vehicles.

Contrinex capacitive proximity sensors are available as 4-wire switches in sizes M12, M18 and M30 (PNP or NPN, with changeover outputs), and 2-wire switches (AC/DC) in sizes M18 and M30.

A capacitive proximity sensor detects the dielectric conditions in their close surroundings. Depending upon the distance between the target/material to be detected and the capacitive sensor that is used the measuring zone changes accordingly.

As the capacitive sensor approaches the target material, the capacitance increases and when the set threshold is reached the switch is activated on the sensor. Contrinex capacitive sensors come in enclosed in either synthetic or metal housing and potted in epoxy resin.

Contrinex RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Systems)

Contrinex RFID SystemContrinex RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is commonly used in numerous automation and logistic areas. RFID allows for objects to be clearly identified by method of electronic labels (transponders or tags).

To withstand harsh industrial environments and particularly demanding processes the RFID tags from Contrinex are made from stainless steel.

The main advantages of RFID technology compared to classic systems such as bar codes or laser marking is the fact that the transponder information can be read or written even if there is no direct line of vision between it and the read/write module. Also the transponder information can be supplemented, modified or deleted with ease.

Contrinex RFID Advantages:

  • Transponder with 2kbit of read/write memory
  • Impervious transponder in all metal housing
  • Compact read/write modules
  • Read/write modules in all metal housings
  • Interface devices for connection to Profibus, DeviceNet and RS485
  • Possibility to connect up to 4 read/write modules per interface device
  • User friendly support software
